Camp Chief

Kent has a strong history of running KIJ and every one of them has provided us with many challenges but they always get better and better. In 2017 we are not just going to be running another large activity camp, we are going to be bringing you a real international jamboree experience in the heart of Kent. We plan to be joined by 5000 Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Senior Section and Adult Helpers. The Jamboree team hope you will join us at what we see as Kent's premier event. I was privileged to be Camp Chief at KIJ13 and honoured at the closing ceremony to pass the Camp Chief scarf to Dean for 2017. Dean is a founder member of KIJ and having organised previous jamborees I know he is very much looking forward to giving you a brilliant experience in 2017. I will be returning to a role I undertook in 2009 and with the great feedback received both in 09 and 13 the Programme Team are growing fast and working towards delivering a programme that underpins the values of both KIJ and Scouting worldwide. In the mix will be the usual KIJ favourites, supersizing some of the activities that got the thumbs up last time, balancing a great theme and programme across the whole camp, developing the opportunities to meet new people and make new friends plus introducing entertainment that should keep your evenings buzzing!

Elaine Greenwood

Head of Subcamps

Some of you will remember me as Subcamp Leader for Empower at KIJ in 2013. I had such a fantastic time that I’m pleased to be heading up Subcamps in 2017 with my support team to make sure that you all have a really great experience. I’m particularly excited about the theme which promises to bring you a truly International experience. All will be revealed soon! Our Subcamp leaders are in place and are busy building their teams and ideas ready to welcome you once you have booked onto KIJ17!

Marketing & Communications

KIJ 2017 will be my fourth KIJ, second as staff. Building on the progress that the KIJ image has made throughout the years, I hope that my team and I continue to make KIJ as publically visible and technically up to date as possible and allow the legacy to grow. Attending the World Scout Jamboree in Japan, increased my portfolio of ideas that we hope to implement in KIJ17 to make it as welcoming to scouts and guides across the globe! I look forward to meeting you in 2017

I am exctied to be the Youth Programme Director for KIJ17. I have been a participant at previous KIJ's as well as working on the service team at Norjam and Camjam. My role is a very active one and I very much want to make sure the KIJ Programme is youth led. Partnerships Manager

This is my 1st involvement in KIJ and I am very proud to serve Kent Scouts in this way. The role of Partnership Manager in the partnership department is a new one to be introduced to the KIJ portfolio. The main purpose of the role is to encourage external organisations and companies to provide corporate support either through financial input in return for marketing and advertising space and or the provision of much needed products or services, such as waste management & transport. If your or members of your family are in a position to directly provide assistance or introduce contacts who will be willing to support us with the purchase of advertising space in print or digital we would love to hear from you. I am currently looking for a few volunteers who have the skills to assist me in identifying potential corporate partners and make approaches. These roles would ideally suit experienced direct or telephone sales professionals, if you would like to take an active part in increasing the opportunities for the participants get in touch Now! The Kent International Jamboree is a week long International camp, held in the heart of Kent every four years. We welcome Scouts and Guides from across the globe to take part in seven days of fun, friends and adventure between the 29th July and 5th August 2017.

KIJ 2017 will be held in the heart of Kent at our County Show Ground in Maidstone Kent. The 200 acre site in Detling is only 30 minutes from London. 30 minutes from the Port of Dover and 30 minutes from Ebbsfleet international station With access to all major airports via the M25,and the M20 it’s easily accessible to Jamboree visitors from all around the World.

Our Camp Chief, Andy, has headed up previous jamborees and has been working with the department directors on the Jamboree since 2013, to put in place a team to make sure the seven day camp meets our aims of more fun, more friends and more adventure. Our management team have all had previous experience of World and UK Jamborees and are looking forward to providing a truly international experience for our participants.
